I woke up around noon-ish, and stumbled out of bed with usual meandering gait. Went to my computer, and checked my E-mail as my morning drink was warming. (Despite the name, I do enjoy a good cup of coffee in the morning).
"Spring in London, 2013" was one of many E-mails, most of which being advertisements.
I checked this one first.
"Congratulations!"
My first thought, of course, was to text Crumpet. I braced for the impact of the reactionary text even whilst texting my own. A few minutes later, the reply: "Wow, I have never gotten out of bed and up the stairs so fast as I did when I read your text. Waiting for comp to start up." and the shortly therafter addition of capslock-strewn jubilation. I smiled and suggested we start chatting on Skype.
Meanwhile, as I poured some cereal for the morning, my thoughts were on how to pay for the trip. We'll manage, but I haven't much spending money for the occasion. My pets will miss me. I've never been away from home for so long.
But that's all fine, because we're going to London! Tea and Crumpet's adventures start here, my friends, and we will be READY for it!
I've drawn up the logo for the blog, and have a million ideas for other things to do to keep me occupied. I need to start posting on my other blog as well, Darksteamscogsoftheearth.blogspot.com.
Now I need to make myself a good cup of tea to celebrate!
Welcome! Tea and Crumpet here to document our excursion to London. From our nervous applications to get in all the way there and more, we'll show and tell you all about our trip!

Crumpet Is Accepted
I hit the end button on my cell phone. "Five more minutes." I grumbled to myself, turning over on my side and placing the phone on my bedside table. The glint of a new message caught my eye before the screen went dark. I reached over again, bringing the phone back to momentary life, and click the 'View' button. "I've been accepted to London!" The words on the screen had me sitting up in my bed in seconds as I looked at the name at the top; Tea. I flung the covers of my bed back and jumped out, sparing barely a millisecond to recall where my computer was currently located. Phone clutched in my hand, I sprinted up the stairs, skipping every other one. I used the wall at the top to help my high speed turn, flung myself onto the couch, and pulled the top of my laptop open while hitting the power button on the extension cord on the floor. As the computer started up, I slowly sat up again and walked calmly to the kitchen, heart pounding in my chest, as I texted Tea to inform her that it had been quite a while since I had moved so quickly. I poured myself a bowl of cereal, hands trembling slightly in anticipation. "I will make it. I will make it." I chanted to myself, making it my personal mantra for the next minute or so. As soon as the milk was in and I had grabbed a spoon, I settled myself down at the living room table. A few clicks brought my email up, and I carefully scanned down the list. "Spring in London 2013" one read. I hovered the mouse over it, closed my eyes, and clicked. Having given it a few moments to load and myself time to prepare for whatever I was about to read, I opened my eyes to a full page of text. That should be good, right? floated through my mind as my eyes moved to the top of the screen. I read the first word; "Congratulations!" That was all I needed as I pumped my arm into the air, grinning like a madman. I made it. I'm going to London this Spring!
