Speedy's and Trafalgar Square

We naturally found ourselves visiting Speedy's Cafe our second week in London.

Oh yeah, I got a wonderful new coat at a market. It is warm and lovely!

There was also the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary filming in Trafalgar Square that was happening at one point. We missed the filming itself, since we had classes, but we made it in time to get autographs. Funny story, actually. Tea and our other roommate weren't in much of a hurry to get there, but I booked it out of class as soon as it ended, half ran all the way to the Tube, then ran through the people there and at the other stations we had to transfer at to get there. Tea and our roommate did a good job of staying caught up, even though they complained through most of it. We got there and got awesome positions against the barricade they had up, which put us in the perfect place to be one of the first people to get their autographs when they came to do so. Afterwards, both Tea and our roommate thanked me for hurrying them over - the area we were standing at filled up really fast right after we got there.

Also, these are all Tea's photos - I managed to forget my camera in our room that day.

Ah, it was a pretty wonderful day! And the next day we went to Hampton Court for our Architecture class, and then raced back to London to watch some of season 3 of Sherlock being filmed. Those pictures will (probably) be up tomorrow.

Our first Monday in London

I have to admit, going through the pictures is making me pretty darn nostalgic.

Anyway, here are some more, now from our first Monday in London. Again, it was a class walk so most of the info that goes along with them is what we were being told for class so I won't bore you with the details.

That said, these next several are Tudor buildings.

Okay, I lied, I'm going to bore you with one tidbit of information. See how the stacks here all different? That's how can tell if a Tudor building is an original or a restoration/fake. The original will have different designs.

And now some other buildings...

In the distance here is St. Paul's Cathedral.

Several weeks after these pictures were taken, we had a morning committed to St. Paul's, where we climbed to the very tippy top. It was an arduous climb but completely worth the terrifying, breathtaking view from the top. But you'll have to wait to see those pictures.

Then we went off to Greenwhich, where we climbed up to the Observatory. These are a few views from up top.

And then some views of the Observatory.

Here, have some pictures with writing that you can read if you want.

And an old telescope - we were able to see Saturn through it! (It was a fake, of course).

And then some pictures of ceilings, because they were pretty.

And a few statues, of course.

Let's not forget the organ.

And this picture also belongs up farther and I have no idea what it is doing down here. Of course, I'm going to be lazy and just leave it down here.

And hey, you guys have been wonderful, so here, have some extra pics... of us taking a quick trip out to Hogwarts.

(Note: These are both Tea's. I'll make sure to let you all know when something belongs to her instead of me.)

Alrighty, that's it for now. Our next set is going to finally start getting to the uber good stuff!
